Creabouton

The sun hung low in the Creabouton sky, just between the crack in a large red rock formation meant to mimic the landscape of an old Eartheen environment. Sholay was always intrigued by this environment; the way the sky looked different depending on where and at what altitude you looked at it. From where they were observing today, the horizontal planes of the sky were deep blue with purple clouds made from the mixture of the yellows of the sun and the blue hues of the falling night sky. Such a simple, yet exquisite color palette it was. It almost made them wistful of the fact that none of it was real anymore. They had found Earth when it was too late; the evils of their kind had wiped out too much of the planet for any kind of reemergence to occur. So, the last of the humans were taken and placed onto a new world. The Council had pushed for a complete annihilation based on the evidence of corruption and sheer savagery, but Sholay had always been more inquisitive than decisive. So, they had placed forth the hypothesis: should the humans be given a chance, on a different plane, just as knowledgeable, but simply in a simulation, that they would make the right choices. They simply needed a chance to begin again at their more evolved states. The Council was hesitant, but Sholay had been right about these things in the past and they knew better than to discount the words of an accomplished academic such as them. Sholay basked with their eyes closed in the simulated sun for a bit longer before feeling the air shift to their right as Slet sat down with them.
“Beautiful, Sholay. You’ve outdone yourself.”
“Too bad none of them will see it. Turns out humans don’t generally ‘hang out’ in deserts.”
“Nonetheless. How this doesn’t get to your head is beyond me, kloaa.”
Sholay smiled wistfully, “Seeing them follow the same path that led them to this experiment is what keeps it from getting to my head.”
“I told you then and I’ll tell you now-”
Slete never finished her sentence for at that exact moment, a human named Carmen walked into their view, her gaze set dead in their direction.
